👋 Hi,
Each week I share something to read, someone to follow and a marketing thought or challenge.
Let’s do it:
To Read
1.
🤯
This is also the difference between strategy and tactics.
Do you feel like you’re always doing? Not enough time in the day?
This is a problem. We need to make space to think deeply.
We like to talk about this as ‘System 2’ thinking, which leads us to:
2.
🤔
Thinking, Fast and Slow is an intense read. Probably worth getting the audiobook version to make it easier to get through.
It’s so worth it, though.
What’s the difference between fast thinking and slow thinking?
Is one better than the other?
How is our brain actually wired - and how do we slow it down?
There are 2 ways to think. System 1 and system 2.

🎙️
I’ve been listening to podcasts for a long time, since I was a kid.
I love the format, and it’s not going away anytime soon.
So, armed with that knowledge, what should we do?
I’ve just launched a podcast for Easy Agile. It’s going to be a great way to connect with our customers and record the conversations we were already having.
For some reason, it’s scarier to put my name to a personal podcast.
Maybe we should all have a personal podcast. Technically, it’s not hard. Takes a few minutes to set up. You can record on your phone.
It’s the fear that’s hard! The resistance.
If I do it, I’ll share it with you. And if you do it, please share it with me!
To Follow
This week’s follow is not a person.
It’s a website.
Weird. But hear me out.
ExplodingTopics scours the internet to find emerging trends before they take off.
The backend is just google search data.
The potential is amazing, to be able to jump on an emerging and long-lasting trend is a powerful bedrock for a business or career.
TLDR: follow Exploding Topics.
Thought
Thinking deeply.
Acknowledging what’s holding us back.
Following the trends.
These are the things that make marketing so interesting for me.
It’s unlike any other career in that you can use both sides of your brain on any given day.
Yes, there are distractions, new tech, trends that fizzle out (hello houseparty!).
The guessing game is what makes it so entertaining.
What’s next? Who knows. 2021 is laughing at our predictions.
Regardless, it’s fun.
This is marketing.

Sean Blake
P.S. Write the script.
